JAIIB stands for Junior Associate of Indian Institute of Banking and Finance and is conducted twice every year by the Indian institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF). Passing this exam not only helps to grow professionally in the understanding of banking processes or in the career advancement and remuneration but also helps to grow as an individual rooted in maturity, confidence and a lot of experience.

What is the syllabus and exam pattern for JAIIB?

Anyone working in the banking sector and is a member of the IIBF can apply for the JAIIB exam.

Now to be a member of IIBF you need to be an employee of a recognised banking establishment both in nationalized as well as private sector including State Bank of India, Reserve Bank of India or other Financial Institutions, both State and Central, Co-operative Banks and any other Institutions in India who are Institutional Members of the Institute and should be approved by the Council time-to-time. The  JAIIB exam syllabus is based on three important subjects:- 

  • Accounting and Finance for Bankers
  • Principles and Practices of Banking
  • Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Banking

The questions majorly cover the following topics:-

  • Analytic skills or logical reasoning skills
  • Banking knowledge and go through some general awareness pdf.
  • Applications on banking knowledge
  • Important banking concepts
  • The decision-making and problem-solving capacity of an individual

This exam comprises 120 questions in each paper, which carries 100 marks each. Multiple Choice Questions and questions based on case studies are provided with a duration of two hours for each paper.

How can you appear and pass the JAIIB exam?

For appearing in the JAIIB exam, members can use their membership cards or any ID cards like PAN card, Driving License, Election Voter’s I Card, Passport, or Aadhar Card (original) along with a printed copy of the Admit letter.

JAIIB exam is not that simple, but even a minimal time investment of 30 minutes every day regularly can get through. One should make a detailed study schedule, prepare by referring to JAIIB latest edition books, take mock tests time-to-time, and set aside time for revision.

One needs to score a minimum of 50 out of 100 marks. Other than this, candidates who secure 45 marks in each subject with an aggregate of 50% marks in all examination subjects in a single attempt will also be declared as having cleared the JAIIB examination.
